Below are several locations for your pet to enjoy a playful vacation. Where Manatee Avenue crosses Palma Sola Bay to Anna Maria Island... there is a body of water... where dogs are allowed to run and swim. If you park at the western end of Palma Sola Bay, you can also access pet friendly... Robinson Preserve (a great place to walk your dog on a leash and where the north shore allows for some doggie swimming) Desoto National Memorial Beach allows for dogs to swim "on leash". Several small beaches are located within the park. Beware of De Soto Point Beach located west of De Soto Point and northwest of the Visitor Center. This area is exposed to the currents of the Manatee River and the waves of Tampa Bay. The Cove Beach located on the south side of De Soto Point is shallow and sheltered. Small dogs would especially enjoy this beach. DeSoto National Memorial is located at: 8300 De Soto Memorial Hwy, Bradenton at the Northern terminus of 75th street West. Visitors Other locations From Anna Maria Island, head south on Gulf Drive to Lido Key's St. Armand's Circle, then east toward Sarasota on Ringling Blvd. Just before the Ringling Bridge is Bird Key Park with plenty of room for dogs to run and play in Sarasota Bay. The park continues under the bridge and around the other side with a large protected grassy area and more sandy shore. It is here you'll see dolphins and in summer months...manatees. Now, cross the Ringling Bridge to Sarasota and head south on Tamiami Trail (US 41) to the second Stop Light. Bay Front Park will be on the right. A dog park and friendly bar called O'Leary's allow for puppies and owners to enjoy a beautiful sunset, meet new friends and take a dip in the bay. Ready for a little adventure? Venice is due south with a great "BEACH PARK" specifically designed for dogs and their owners. YES, this is where you can swim and sun TOGETHER! Go to Bohard Paw Park for details.
