Great Community Theatre can be found at Anna Maria’s Island Players
and downtown Bradenton’s "Award Winning" Manatee Players. Productions are meticulously choreographed with "volunteer" performers who give it their all.
If art is your passion, the Anna Maria Arts Center sponsors two major annual festivals known as the Winter & Spring Fests while Bradenton is home to a large artist community called the Village of the Arts. Sarasota’s Ringling Museum houses fine baroque period paintings including the oversized works of Rubens and many sculptures from the personal collection of John and Mable Ringling. For unusual and surreal, there’s always the Dali Museum with an unconventional building to match the artist’s quirky ways and the Morean Arts Center has a fine collection of Dale Chihuly with a working hot shop for glass blowing demonstrations.
Sarasota’s downtown is just minutes away offering a vast array of arts and attractions. The acclaimed Sarasota Ballet features a repertoire of classical and modern dance throughout the year while the Asolo Theatre is home to a leading regional theatrical company with performances November through June. Within walking distance is the John and Mable Ringling Museum where an International Arts Festival is held every fall. This six-day cultural celebration of music, dance, theater and visual arts is presented in collaboration with New York’s Baryshnikov Arts Center.
Meanwhile, Sarasota’s Film Festival, Van Wezel and St. Pete Times Forum attract top rated actors, concerts and international performances.
